A typical volunteer day
A typical volunteer day in Maquipucuna starts at 07.00am, wake up, do some exercises, go for a dip in the river, and refresh yourself.
At 7.30 breakfast is served, like pancakes, bread or cereal with fruit.
8.00 - 8.30 is the time to start your working day. Some volunteers work in the organic garden, others go to the village of Santa Marianita and work with the community (in the school garden, with the forest guards, with women in handicrafts, teaching English, preparing and giving talks, etc.). And some do research on projects at the reserve, help Eco guides, work at trails and so on.
13.00 Lunch and afterwards
just let the food settle down.
14.00 Continue with your work.
17.00 Take it easy, refresh yourself, go for a swim or for a walk on a trail. Relax, wash your clothes or help in the kitchen.
19.00 Dinner at the lodge.
20.00 Go for a night walk looking for nocturnal animals or organise for a star watch. Do some games with others, play cards, listen to music, play the guitar or spend some time by yourself, reading a book or just relax in one of the hammocks.
22.00 To bed.
