How does the volunteer program work?

How do you become a volunteer?

Initial contact must be made through é-mail to:
volunteers@maquipucuna.org
Applications are available online and must be mailed or faxed to (+593 2) 2 507 201. With your acceptance letter, you will receive a release of liability form. We must receive the signed document before you travel to begin your volunteer experience.

After your approval, trough é-mail you will also receive more detailed information on the project you will be volunteering on and materials you may want to bring for work. At your arrival, a file will be opened for you at our database, for which we recommend that you bring a picture of yourself. During your first days as a volunteer, the design of your working schedule will be made with your coordinator.

You do not need a visa if you stay in Ecuador less than three months. If you are coming for a longer stay you will need to go through this process and obtain a visa. Nevertheless, as soon as you get to Ecuador you must visit your embassy in our country to check all your documents and go through any process that they may require from you. The air tickets are your responsibility and you must let the volunteer coordinator know the details of your arrival ahead of time if you need a ride from the airport to the hotel. Hotel reservations can be made from our office.
