For a many years local professionals have given talks about the general health prevention. Then, the Maquipucuna Medical Clinics have been created to helping the local Health Centres/Posts, in collaboration with Stonecoast Medical Teams, whose humanitarian and great work ethics & the financial support from the Butler Foundation have allowed hundreds of people in the Nor-west of Ecuador. The communities served are located within the Parishes of Nanegal, Gualea, Pacto including: Palmitopamba, Chacapata, Playa Rica, Meridiano, Pacto, Santa Marianita y Paraíso. In the lowlands of the Choco Andean corridor, the service has been focus in the cacao-producing area of Puerto Quito.

Lately, in the South of Ecuador the  Fundacion Alberto Hidalgo & Fundación Maquipucuna are formally collaborating in an effort to raise funds to cover the costs of operation of a Health and Maternity Centres in the la ciudad de La Toma. The Centro Medico M. Alberto Hidalgo & Maternidad Mariana Gutierrez will be operated in partnership with the local University and Staff. Eventually the rest of the region along the coffee producing areas may be served and we’re seeking continue the medical partnerships already established in the North of Ecuador. Ultimately the attention to low income families by providing a healthcare service which goes along the tradicional medicine & wellness, that have made the small villages of the province of Loja so famous around the World by the longevity of the population.
